Mumbai, Dec 5 (NationPress) Content creator and actress Prajakta Koli has shared her insights on how television viewing habits have evolved since the 1990s, a time when children had only a two-hour viewing window and merely six channels to choose from. Today, she emphasized that the audience now holds the power to influence a show's recall value.
In her conversation with IANS, Prajakta reflected on the structured and limited nature of television in her youth.
“I recall during our childhood, we were limited to two hours of television each evening. Now, we have six channels available, and we can watch anything that airs,” she explained.
She highlighted the significant transformation in the content ecosystem.
“Currently, most individuals consume content through their television, Mac, iPad, or even their phones. The options are incredibly diverse. Consequently, the recall value of shows has diminished,” she stated.
Despite this, she disagrees with the notion that current shows lack a lasting influence.
“Nevertheless, there are still stories that emerge which make you ponder: Will it return? Those questions continue to exist,” she remarked.
According to her, it is now the audience that influences what remains memorable.
“The responsibility has shifted to the audience to determine which shows hold recall value. However, I believe there are still shows that resonate,” Prajakta concluded.
Prajakta is set to appear in the upcoming series “Single Papa” on Netflix. The show features Manoj Pahwa, Kunal Kemmu, Prajakta, and Ayesha Raza Mishra. It revolves around Gaurav Gehlot, a charming man-child whose emotional maturity is still developing.
His unexpected choice to adopt a baby right after his divorce shocks his family, leading them to consider a complete reboot of his life. The ensuing chaos showcases the Gehlots grappling with the question of how a man who frequently misplaces his socks plans to raise a child.
“Single Papa” will debut on December 12 on Netflix.
