Mumbai, July 19 (NationPress) Music composer Pritam, renowned for his contributions to Bollywood's musical landscape with his latest album ‘Metro...In Dino’, is reflecting on his long-standing creative alliance with Anurag Basu, the director of ‘Metro...In Dino’.
Pritam recently shared insights with IANS, revealing that their journey began nearly 27 years ago when both were newcomers navigating the television industry.
He recounted, “My first collaboration with Anurag took place in 1998. A friend introduced us, mentioning a series about ghosts. At that time, he was heavily involved in serials. I produced the title song for a Zee TV show. Later, he directed ‘Murder’, which became a massive success, and I followed suit with ‘Dhoom’, marking my rise as a prominent music director. This was how we collaborated on ‘Gangster’.”
Both ‘Murder’ and ‘Dhoom’ premiered in the same year. Anu Malik composed the music for ‘Murder’, while ‘Dhoom’ was helmed by Sanjay Gadhvi.
‘Gangster’ represented the first cinematic venture between Pritam and Anurag.
Pritam elaborated, “Eventually, we moved into the same building, fostering our friendship. We frequently met in the common corridor, which led to my work on ‘Gangster’.”
However, it was their subsequent collaboration, ‘Life in a Metro’, that truly inspired him. Interestingly, Anurag narrated both films to him in quick succession.
Pritam recalled, “I vividly remember him sharing the plots for ‘Gangster’ and ‘Life in a Metro’ at the same time. I was particularly thrilled by the narration of ‘Life in a Metro’ due to its unique screenplay structure, which is hyperlinked.”
“My diploma film from FTII also utilized a hyperlink structure, which immediately captivated me. ‘Life in a Metro’ was indeed something different,” he added.
