Mumbai, May 23 (NationPress) Actress Priyamvada Kant shared her excitement about reprising her role as Sharda in season two of the show "Tenali Ram" during an exclusive chat with IANS.
Describing it as a significant accomplishment, the former contestant from 'Splitsvilla' stated, "It’s quite uncommon to have the same cast return for a second season with their original names and roles — this is a first for Indian television. We are fortunate to have received this opportunity, and I feel honored to take on the role of Sharda once again."
When asked if revisiting the same character felt monotonous, Kant replied, "Not at all. Seven years is a considerable time, and the show has returned after a long hiatus. In fact, I had left the first season after a year due to creative differences, but for seven years, fans kept reaching out, saying, 'We miss you as Sharda, please come back.' I never thought I’d return to the same role. When the chance arose, I knew I had to seize it. It’s rare for a show to be revived with its original cast because of audience demand. Throughout these years, both Krishna and I have evolved as actors. Thus, while we are embodying the same characters, there’s now a new depth and maturity to our performances."
The talented actress also provided an update regarding her Bollywood debut alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tamannaah Bhatia.
"That film was incredibly special — it was my first venture into cinema. The songs launched on Zee Music gained considerable popularity. Unfortunately, the film remains unfinished. Only the climax is left to be shot, which may never take place. It was disheartening, especially since I had declined a TV show for that project. Nevertheless, the experience was remarkable. Nawaz and Tamannaah are both exceptional and highly professional. It’s sad that the film didn’t get released," she shared.
When asked if the delays stemmed from production issues, Kant explained, "I’m not entirely certain. There were script disagreements, followed by the lockdown. Subsequently, the actors’ schedules didn’t align. A lot was happening behind the scenes, but I don’t know the complete story. All I am aware of is that ninety-five percent of the film was completed."
