Mumbai, March 29 (NationPress) The sister of actress Aneet Padda, Reet Padda, is facing significant criticism for labeling the newly released film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ as a form of propaganda.

In her posts on social media, Reet expressed that both the film starring Ranveer Singh and Anupam Kher’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ are politically charged narratives. She stated, “For ‘Dhurandhar’, it essentially delivers a narrative that aligns with government interests, utilizing political speeches to rationalize issues like demonetization. Is it propaganda? Absolutely. Can you deny it? Not even close. But perhaps your interpretation of propaganda varies... who’s to say?”

As the backlash intensified, Reet opted to remove her Instagram account, along with her LinkedIn profile.

She further argued that films of this nature promote a specific storyline within public discussions. Reet noted, “These films seem to engage in a bit of creative mathematics, claiming ‘32,000 women converted to Islam!’ when actual figures are only in the hundreds. But that’s the essence of propaganda, right? A sliver of fact mixed with grossly exaggerated statistics, and suddenly, you have a full-fledged narrative against a community. I never claimed the issues weren't real, but these films clearly advocate a defined narrative while ignoring alternative viewpoints. I’d be curious to learn about the ‘true’ ground realities from someone knowledgeable... if only they weren’t hiding behind an anonymous account.”

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, helmed by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh, has quickly become a dominant force at the box office in Indian cinema. The film has received robust responses across various markets, exhibiting high occupancy rates, numerous sold-out shows, and strong traction in its dubbed versions, showcasing its appeal across India.
