Mumbai, April 21 (NationPress) ‘Sarkari Bachcha’ star Rizwann Sikander fondly reminisced about the late iconic actor Irrfan Khan, emphasizing his steadfast commitment to his profession.

He talked about a particular day on set when Irrfan was battling a high fever but still opted to film a rain scene, determined not to disappoint the crew. Sikander recounted how the producer, concerned about his wellbeing, even suggested halting the shoot, but Irrfan, showcasing his dedication as a true professional, declined the offer.

While sharing this moving memory with IANS, Rizwann reflected, “At the age of nineteen, I emerged victorious on Fear Factor, which kickstarted my acting journey. Prior to that, I was involved behind the scenes. I vividly remember assisting on my first film at Film City, where Irrfan Khan portrayed the antagonist. Observing him perform was like attending a masterclass.”

“I’ll always remember that day—Irrfan sir, despite having a high fever, came to the set, prepared to film in the rain, seated in a jeep as a police officer. The producer even suggested cancellation, but he insisted, “With so many people here, how can I let them down?” That level of passion and devotion taught me what true commitment is. It made a lasting impact on me, and I carry that lesson in all my endeavors,” he elaborated.

Irrfan Khan, celebrated as one of the most esteemed actors in Indian cinema, was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in March 2018. Unfortunately, he passed away from the disease on April 29, 2020.

Rizwann also discussed how his love for acting led to his initial break in the film industry.

“I owe my cinematic exposure to my father, who operated a video library in the '80s, surrounding me with thousands of films. He was a passionate fan, as was my grandfather. Watching films was a family ritual—we never missed a first-day-first-show. This legacy laid my foundation. I grew up watching everyone from Jackie Chan and Bruce Willis to Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Dev Anand, and Guru Dutt. My childhood was enriched with radio songs from the '50s through the 2000s, thanks to the time spent with my grandfather.”
