Chennai, March 5 (NationPress) The release date of director Arvind Rajagopal’s crime investigation thriller, ‘Asthram’, starring actor Shaam in the lead role, has been officially postponed, as confirmed by its makers on Wednesday.
The film was initially set to debut on March 7, and the team had even conducted a media screening prior to its scheduled release this Friday.
However, with nine other films lined up for release this weekend, the producers felt they would not be able to secure the required number of screens to adequately showcase their film. Thus, they have chosen to delay the release.
The film gained attention when its theatrical rights in Tamil Nadu were acquired by Five Star, a distribution company enjoying success with its recent titles like ‘Parking’, ‘Maharaja’, and ‘Garudan’.
Produced by Best Movies Dhana Shanmugamani, this crime-investigation thriller features Shaam as a police officer, alongside model-turned-actress Niranjani as the female lead.
The film was shot over a period of 30 days across Chennai and the picturesque locations of Kodaikanal.
With a gripping narrative crafted by Jegan M.S., the movie is poised to be a thrilling experience. It also stars versatile actors like Nizhalgal Ravi, Aroul D Shankar, and Jeeva Ravi in significant roles, along with newcomer Ranjith DSM.
The film boasts a talented technical crew. Sundaramoorthy, famed for his compositions in ‘Airaa’, ‘8 Thottakkal’, and ‘Bommai Nayagi’, has provided the music, with cinematography by Kalyan, known for ‘Jackson Durai’. The editing is handled by Boopathy, an associate editor on critically acclaimed films like ‘Irudhi Sutru’ and ‘Soorarai Pottru’.
