Actress Shilpa Shinde, best known for her role as Angoori Bhabhi in the long-running comedy series 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!', has publicly confessed that the sexual harassment allegations she had filed against the show's producer were fabricated. The admission came during an appearance on the podcast hosted by comedians Bharti Singh and Harssh Limbachiyaa, where Shinde spoke candidly about the circumstances surrounding her acrimonious exit from the series.

The Confession in Her Own Words

Shinde did not mince words, stating directly: 'woh jhoot tha' — 'it was a lie.' She said this was the first time she was making the admission publicly. In her own words: 'Main aaj iske through bol rahi hun woh jhooth tha. Main yeh aaj first time confess kar rahi hun sach much.' ('Today, through this platform, I'm saying for the first time that it was false. I'm genuinely confessing the truth today.')

She explained that she had felt cornered at the time, with no viable path out of the professional dispute. 'I had filed a sexual harassment case against my producer because I had no other option. Eventually, I came out of that situation after reaching a settlement,' she said, according to the podcast.

Why She Said She Filed the Case

Shinde elaborated that the decision to file the complaint was partly shaped by practical considerations. She noted that police, she claimed, advised that a formal FIR required 'serious allegations' to be written down — and that her own background in law made her aware of the process. 'Police toh seedha FIR karne ke liye yeh bolti hai aapko ganda likhna padega and I am from law background,' she said.

She recalled that even a close friend had questioned her at the time, asking: 'Do you know what you are doing?' — to which she replied that she had no other way. Shinde said she had already quit the show before the complaint was filed, and described the situation as having left her with no alternative.

Producer Sanjay Kohli Named; Settlement Reached

Shinde identified the producer in question as Sanjay Kohli, saying he too had acknowledged that all avenues had been blocked, which she described as the context for her actions. She expressed regret over the damage to his reputation: 'Bechara woh usme badnaam hogaya' ('The poor man ended up being defamed because of it').

Following the complaint, the two parties reached a settlement. Shinde confirmed that her pending payment — dues reportedly owed to her for three months — was cleared as part of the resolution. A mutual non-disclosure understanding was also reportedly reached: 'Aaj ke baad na aap kisi ke baare main media main baat karengi na hum' ('After that, there was an understanding that neither I would speak about them in the media, nor would they speak about me').

Reconciliation and Return to 'Bhabiji'

Despite the bitterness of the original fallout, Shinde revealed that she subsequently returned to 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!' — citing her affection for the show's writer, referred to as Manoj ji, as the primary reason. 'Even after 11 years, I did 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain' again because Manoj ji, who was our writer, wanted it. I had hurt him, too, during that period,' she said.

She added that her relationship with the team today is on a positive footing: 'Aaj humaare relationship bahut ache hai' ('Our relationship is very good now'). The confession marks a significant turn in one of Indian television's more high-profile workplace disputes, and raises broader questions about the pressures that can push individuals to misuse legal mechanisms — as well as the systems that may inadvertently enable such misuse.
