Chennai, April 18 (IANS) Actor Silambarasan, who performed alongside the legendary actor Kamal Haasan in a song from director Mani Ratnam's highly anticipated film Thug Life, revealed on Friday that he was completely astonished by the elegance and vigor of Kamal Haasan during the song shoot.

At a grand event held for the launch of 'Jinguchaa', the film's first single, Silambarasan, recognized for his exceptional dancing skills, remarked, "Sir (Kamal Haasan) is an incredible dancer, and my passion for dance originated from observing him. His dancing prowess has been evident for years, yet even today, his grace remains unparalleled. During our rehearsals, he primarily observed. However, when it came time for the actual take, he was absolutely fantastic! We were not prepared for such an exceptional performance to come out of nowhere.

We filmed the song in the sweltering heat of Delhi during summer, making the shoot quite challenging. We were all drenched in sweat. Although I was in a lightweight costume, I struggled with the heat. Kamal Haasan's outfit was significantly heavier. I thought to myself, "How is he going to dance with so much energy in this heat while wearing such a heavy costume?" Consequently, I opted for a slower, more relaxed dance style. However, during the take, he danced with such vigor that I was left in awe and paused my own dancing to appreciate him.

In response, Kamal Haasan stated, "Only director Mani Ratnam knows what truly transpired. They summoned me to the shooting location for the song. I told Mani Ratnam, 'It looks great. Keep filming.' To this, Mani Ratnam replied, 'You are also part of this shot.' I was taken aback and said, 'Me? I don't think that’s a good idea. I didn’t dance even in 'Nayagan'.' But Mani Ratnam insisted, so I danced. I had no intention of dancing initially. During rehearsals, I simply observed. However, when Mani Ratnam wanted me to dance, I joined in.

The track, 'Jinguchaa', is a wedding-themed number and serves as the film's first single. The lyrics are penned by Kamal Haasan himself, with music composed by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman. The song features vocals from Vaishali Samant, Shakthisree Gopalan, and Adithya RK.

Kamal Haasan portrays a character named Rangaraya Sakthivel Naickan in this film, generating immense anticipation as it marks the second collaboration between Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after Nayagan, 36 years later.

It is noteworthy that director Mani Ratnam's production company, Madras Talkies, has described this film as "an epic tale of power, rebellion, and triumph."

The film features music by A R Rahman and cinematography by Ravi K Chandran. Thug Life, which has editing by Mani Ratnam's trusted editor Sreekar Prasad and stunts coordinated by the stunt masters Anbariv, is set to release on June 5.
