SLB’s ‘Heeramandi’ Ranks as the Sole Indian Show in Google’s Global Searched Shows List

Mumbai, Dec 11 (NationPress) Indian filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut series ‘Heeramandi – The Diamond Bazaar’ has become the only Indian show to feature on Google’s most searched shows globally in 2024.
While numerous international productions claimed top spots in Google trends, it is noteworthy that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnificent Netflix period drama ‘Heeramandi’ secured the fourth position on the list. Additionally, amidst significant topics such as the US elections and climate events generating a lot of discussion, ‘Heeramandi’ has carved out its place on this prestigious list.
The series is characterized by its stunning visuals, enchanting music, gripping storyline, and exceptional performances, all infused with SLB's signature opulent storytelling.
The cast includes Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Taha Shah Badussha.
Taha, who plays the role of Nawab Tajdar Baloch in the series, previously mentioned that he auditioned for 15 months to secure a role in the show.
Reflecting on his audition process, he stated, “Having aspired to work with the legends, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was at the pinnacle of my list. It took me fifteen months of relentless auditions for his project, and finally, the chance came—a brief role of 3 days, but I was thankful for the opportunity to gain his mentorship. Meeting him was surreal, and it was then that he surprised me by proposing a screen test for a more prominent character, Tajdar’s best friend.”
The OTT series delves into the cultural essence of Heeramandi, a mesmerizing district, through the narratives of courtesans and their clientele, set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle in the 1940s.

‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ is an eight-part series available for streaming on Netflix, and it is set to return for a second season.
