What Inspired Sonali Kulkarni's Konkan Hiking Trail Achievement?

Mumbai, May 1 (NationPress) Actress Sonali Kulkarni, recently named the brand ambassador for Maharashtra's Public Service Commission, is joyfully commemorating Maharashtra Day today.

Her passion for the state is evident, given that it boasts the highest Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in India.

In a remarkable feat, she disclosed that she has traversed the Konkan hiking trail on foot, inspired by her father, an enthusiastic hiker.

Sonali, who is active in both Marathi and Hindi cinema, shares this prestigious honor with renowned music composer Shankar Mahadevan.

On this special occasion, she expressed to IANS, 'For me, May 1 is incredibly significant. It is both Maharashtra Day and International Labour Day. I hold in high regard everyone who contributes their skills, from makeup artists to production teams and support staff. I respect and appreciate the time and effort each individual invests. I consider myself a worker too, both at home and in my professional life. I take pride in any work I do and honor everyone who contributes their labor and talent.'

Sonali described Maharashtra as a land rich in artistic diversity and athletic prowess, stating, 'In our national pledge, we affirm that we are a 'bountiful and diverse nation,' and Maharashtra exemplifies this beautifully. Our state is home to exceptional writers, athletes, actors, and artists in the Marathi industry. Our language is rich and melodious, imbued with a unique rhythm, a 'naad' of its own. I communicate well in Marathi and cherish our traditions and cultural heritage. Maharashtra is a treasure trove of art and history. I dream of taking my family to visit all the forts I've explored.'

She continued, 'My father, a passionate hiker, has been to every fort in our state. Together, we've completed the entire Konkan walking path. My mother, a Warkari, once made a pilgrimage from Anandi to Pandharpur—a tradition I aspire to follow one day. I adore our music, our deities, and our folk culture. I feel incredibly blessed to have been born in Maharashtra.'

Sonali was honored as the brand ambassador of Maharashtra's Public Service Commission, receiving warm wishes from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, and Ashish Shelar.

'This makes me immensely proud. Shankar Mahadevan and I will represent this initiative. In the Ramayana, there was a tiny squirrel that assisted Ram and his army in constructing the bridge to Lanka. Though small, she played her part. I feel equally responsible and empowered to be the messenger of the government for the public. As an actor, I believe it is my duty to positively contribute to the government's initiatives wherever possible,' she remarked.
