Sonam Kapoor Remembers Her Grandfather on His 99th Birthday

Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Actress Sonam Kapoor fondly recalls her dear 'dadu' Surinder Kapoor on his 99th birthday, marking a significant moment of remembrance.
In her Instagram stories, the actress shared heartfelt reflections on the treasured moments they shared and the profound influence her grandfather had on her life. Sonam posted a nostalgic black-and-white image of her grandfather with the caption, “Happy, happy birthday, dadu…miss you.”
Additionally, Anil Kapoor honored his late father, a celebrated producer, with a touching homage. The star of ‘Mr. India’ reminisced about his father, emphasizing that his humility, integrity, and joyful spirit were not only defining traits but also brought purpose to their lives.
Anil shared a collection of vintage black-and-white photographs on Instagram, featuring his father alongside legendary figures such as Raj Kapoor, R.D. Burman, Shashi Kapoor, and Parveen Babi, among others.
In his heartfelt caption, he expressed, “Today we celebrate my dad’s 99th birthday. His simplicity, honesty, and joy not only defined him but also enriched our lives. Surinder Kapoor, the father of Anil, Boney, and Sanjay Kapoor, passed away in September 2011 at the age of 85 due to cardiac arrest.
He started his film journey as a secretary to Geeta Bali, a notable Hindi film actress of the 1950s and wife of his nephew, Shammi Kapoor. In 2009, he received the esteemed Shri L V Prasad Phalke award from the Dada Saheb Phalke Academy for his contributions to cinema.
His first significant achievement as a producer was with the 1963 Hindi film "Shehzada," directed by K. Shankar, which was a remake of the Tamil feature “Idhu Sathiyam.”
On the work front, Sonam is set to appear in "Battle of Bittora," produced by her father Anil Kapoor and sister Rhea Kapoor.
