Mumbai, Aug 31 (NationPress) Actress Soni Razdan, who plays the iconic Kashmiri singer Raj Begum in the newly released film ‘Songs of Paradise’, has recounted her experience during the making of the classic film 'Party'.

In a conversation with IANS while promoting 'Songs of Paradise', she humorously remarked that her most cherished memory from 'Party' was the moment they wrapped up shooting, due to the challenging schedule that kept the cast in one location for the entire duration of filming.

She shared, "When you're on set all night, your best memories often revolve around finishing up and finally getting to rest (laughs). But seriously, I cherished every moment. It was groundbreaking for its time, with our unique shooting style, transitioning from room to room. The final product looks stunning on screen."

Directed by Govind Nihalani and produced by NFDC, 'Party' debuted in 1984 and centers around an evening gathering hosted by a wealthy widow who is a notable supporter of the arts. At that time, Soni was just starting her career in cinema and felt inspired by her talented co-stars such as Vijaya Mehta, Manohar Singh, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Rohini Hattangadi, and K.K. Raina.

Despite the film's demanding shoot, she expressed, "Trust me, shooting all night is exhausting. You often find yourself standing around waiting for your turn to shoot because of delays. I remember the pain in my legs, but I also recall learning immensely from my fellow actors, which was invaluable as I was just beginning my journey. Though it was a grueling experience, it was also enormously rewarding."

Meanwhile, ‘Songs of Paradise’ draws inspiration from the life of Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum, with the lead roles portrayed by Saba Azad and Soni Razdan across two timelines.

Distributed by Excel Entertainment and produced by Apple Tree Pictures Production and Renzu Films Production, ‘Songs of Paradise’ is now streaming on Prime Video.
