Mumbai, March 11 (NationPress) Playback singer Sonu Nigam is recognized for his candid opinions regarding issues in the music industry and society at large. This time, he has openly criticized the organizers of the recently held IIFA awards ceremony.

On Tuesday, the artist shared a screenshot on his Instagram, displaying the nominees for the Best Playback Singer category. Notably, there was no recognition for the senior singer for his popular track ‘Mere Dholna 3.0’ from the film. This song, which gained immense popularity on Instagram, is centered around the “raudra ras” and illustrates the sentiments of a ghost wronged by his family.

Sonu Nigam quoted lines from the same song, “Bhola bhaala tha, seedha sada tha, main toh naadan tha”, suggesting his naivety in believing that only an artist’s talent determines recognition and accolades.

In his caption, he stated, “Thank you IIFA... After all, you were accountable to the Rajasthan bureaucracy.”

It’s important to note that last December, the playback artist criticized politicians after the Chief Minister of Rajasthan abruptly left his performance. He labeled this action as disrespectful towards an artist.

He shared a video on Instagram, expressing, “Delegates from around the globe came to uplift the pride of Rajasthan. There was a CM, a youth minister, and a sports minister. Many dignitaries were present. In the dim light, I couldn’t see all of them.”

“Mid-show, I noticed the CM and others exiting. As soon as they departed, all the delegates followed suit. I urge all politicians, if you don’t respect your artists, how can you expect the public to do so?” he remarked.

Sonu Nigam has also termed the incident as an insult to ‘Goddess Saraswati’ and the arts.
