Mumbai, Aug 4 (NationPress) After Shashi Tharoor extended his congratulations to Shah Rukh Khan for clinching his first National Award in 33 years, the Bollywood icon responded in a humorous fashion. He stated that he wouldn't have grasped anything more magniloquent and sesquipedalian.

The esteemed actor was awarded the National Award for Best Actor for his role in the film “Jawan” during the 71st National Film Awards.

Tharoor, celebrated for his command of the English language, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to commend SRK on his victory.

In his own unique style, Shah Rukh thanked Tharoor for the “simple praise”, stating: “Thank you for the simple praise, Mr. Tharoor… I would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian… haha (sic).”

Regarding “Jawan”, this action-packed thriller is helmed by Atlee and features Shah Rukh in a dual role as a father and son duo, alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.

The plot centers around Azad, a jailer of a women’s prison who becomes a vigilante, enlisting inmates to expose corruption in India.

Following his win, Shah Rukh Khan appeared with a bandaged arm to convey a heartfelt message to his fans after securing the National Award for Best Actor for his pivotal role.

In a video, he expressed his overwhelming feelings of gratitude, pride, and humility.

“Receiving the National Award is a moment I will treasure forever. My heartfelt thanks to the jury, the chairman, the INB ministry, and everyone who deemed me deserving of this honor. A special shoutout to all my directors and writers, especially for this year, 2023.”

He continued, “So, thank you Raju sir, thank you Saeed, and especially Atlee sir and his team for entrusting me with the role in Jawan and believing in my ability to earn this award.”

Shah Rukh emphasized that a National Award signifies more than just personal achievement.

He remarked, “It's a reminder that my work holds significance. It motivates me to persist, work diligently, create, and serve cinema. To be truly heard in a noisy world is a blessing. I vow to use this recognition not as a destination but as motivation to continue striving, learning, and giving back to life.”

SRK referred to the award as a reminder that acting transcends mere occupation; it's a “responsibility.”

Currently, Shah Rukh is focused on his upcoming film titled King, which also features his daughter Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone. Reports indicate that he sustained an injury while filming an action scene for this new project and is in recovery.
