Chennai, April 14 (NationPress) The mastermind behind the 'Odela' franchise, Sampath Nandi, has revealed that actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who portrays a Naga Sadhu in the sequel of this beloved series, walked barefoot and adopted a strict vegetarian diet during the film's production.
Tamannaah, who is stepping into the role of a Naga Sadhu for the first time, captivates audiences in the trailer of 'Odela 2', a spiritual thriller, with fans praising her character's authenticity.
When asked about the process behind her character's appearance in the film directed by Ashok Teja, Nandi explained, “Tamannaah embodies a Naga Sadhu, a character brimming with enigmatic energy. Initially, we experimented with three different looks. Given that Naga Sadhus are typically sun-drenched, we encountered challenges in achieving a realistic look for Tamannaah's fair complexion.”
“Despite our best makeup efforts, it was difficult to capture the true essence. Naga saints can also be of foreign descent, and Tamannaah's skin tends to turn pink under sunlight. We decided to reveal her appearance without makeup. I discussed this with designer Neeta Lulla and shared various costume references. After several designs, we finally achieved the look you see now. It was a meticulous process,” explained Sampath Nandi.
Additionally, he noted, “Tamannaah performed her scenes barefoot in the sun.”
“She transitioned to a complete vegetarian lifestyle, which I believe greatly contributed to her ability to portray this character convincingly,” Nandi added.
The franchise creator also expressed satisfaction with the film's VFX quality. “This film features graphic effects on par with those in movies starring Indian superstars, thanks to the efforts of around 150 VFX professionals who have dedicated six months to this project,” he revealed.
'Odela 2' has generated significant excitement as the sequel to the original 'Odela Railway Station'. The film, produced by D Madhu and directed by Ashok Teja, features music by Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Soundar Rajan. Art direction is managed by Rajeev Nair.
The film is scheduled for release on April 17.
