Mumbai, Sep 21 (NationPress) As the vibrant festival of Navratri 2025 approaches, actress Tanishaa Mukerji reflected on the renowned Mukherjee Durga Puja Pandal.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, she fondly remembered her late uncle, Deb Mukherjee, who sadly passed away in March this year.
For those who may not know, Deb Mukherjee played a pivotal role in organizing the pandal each year.
Tanishaa expressed to IANS that this year's celebration will be somewhat challenging for the family.
"This occasion brings a mix of sadness and excitement for us, as we have experienced three losses in our family. Our beloved Debu Kaka (Deb Mukherjee), who was the heart behind our Durga Puja, is no longer with us, making it tough for us to join the festivities this time. Yet, there’s also excitement as we continue his legacy," Tanishaa shared.
She revealed that Deb Mukherjee dreamed of making the Durga Puja increasingly grand each year, and this time they plan to enhance their social media presence to honor that vision.
Additionally, Deb Mukherjee aspired to feed more people during Durga Puja, so the family aims to provide meals for a significant number of attendees during this year's celebrations.
Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and uncle to Kajol and Rani Mukerji, passed away at the age of 83 on March 14 this year.
His mother, Satidevi, was the sole sister of legends Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. He was also the brother of actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee.
The esteemed actor was married twice, having a daughter named Sunita from his first marriage, who is married to director Ashutosh Gowariker, and a son, Ayan, from his second marriage.
