Mumbai, Feb 12 (NationPress) A threat email directed at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma, was reportedly sent using a Proton email account.

The sender claimed affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and issued a direct threat. This information was disclosed by officials from the Mumbai Crime Branch regarding the use of the Proton email service.

Aayush, who is married to Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan, has not had specific details about the nature of the threat released to the public.

This incident adds to the growing number of crimes targeting celebrities in India’s entertainment capital.

In a related case, five shots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence. The investigation revealed that the vehicle used in the shooting originated from Pune.

The vehicle belonged to a Pune resident who sold it to Aditya Gayki, one of the suspects, for Rs 30,000 shortly before the shooting. Aditya Gayki and another suspect, Samarth Pomaji, left the vehicle at a predetermined location in Juhu.

According to the Crime Branch, the individuals who purchased the vehicle were unaware of the shooter's identity. Subsequently, Shubham Lonkar directed the shooter to retrieve the vehicle and carry out the attack.

A special court has remanded all five suspects into police custody until February 17, 2026. Although the Mumbai Crime Branch requested a 15-day custody, the court opted for a longer remand.

The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, enacted in 1999, aims to address organized crime and terrorism in the state.

The Mumbai Crime Branch noted that the accused, Shubham Lonkar, intended to instill fear across Mumbai, informing the arrested accomplices that a significant act was planned. Communication occurred via a single app, with a transfer of Rs 40,000 to one of the arrested suspects.

Additionally, it was revealed that Shubham Lonkar had provided three firearms to his brother, Praveen Lonkar, which were later used in the attack on Rohit Shetty.
