Mumbai, April 15 (NationPress) The individual who reportedly made a death threat against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been located in a village in Vadodara district of Gujarat and is said to be mentally unstable, as confirmed by the Mumbai Police on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old suspect, a resident of a village in Waghodia taluka, has been issued a notice to report to the Mumbai Police for interrogation.
On Sunday, Khan received a death threat through a message sent to the official WhatsApp account of the Worli Transport Department. This threat surfaced exactly one year after two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle discharged four gunshots outside his residence in Bandra.
In response to the recent threat, the Worli police have initiated a case and have bolstered security measures at the actor’s home in Galaxy Apartments.
The message indicated a plan to either invade Khan’s residence or target his vehicle with explosives.
Within a day of filing the FIR, police were able to identify the sender as Mayank Pandya, 25, and subsequently detained him at his residence in Vadodara.
“Utilizing technical intelligence, we traced Pandya to his home. Since he is currently receiving treatment for mental health issues, we have issued him a notice to participate in the investigation,” stated a police official.
This incident adds to a series of threats directed at the actor, who has been under increased security since his conviction in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case.
On April 14 last year, two individuals on a motorcycle fired four shots outside his home, leading Khan to cease his customary greetings to fans from his balcony. He later installed bulletproof glass in his apartment.
In 2004, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the shooting, with a message on Facebook attributed to Bishnoi claiming credit for the attack.
