Varun Dhawan: Bollywood Requires Fresh Perspectives from Diverse Regions of India

Mumbai, Dec 22 (NationPress) Bollywood sensation Varun Dhawan, who is in the spotlight for his forthcoming movie ‘Baby John’, has addressed the essential transformations needed in the Hindi film sector.
The actor believes that the current landscape of Bollywood is largely influenced by individuals whose perspectives are not pan-India and primarily cater to Mumbai.
While being inspired by the city is understandable, given its status as India’s entertainment capital, Varun emphasizes the significance of integrating voices from all over the country to enhance the depth of storytelling.
Speaking on the podcast, ‘The Ranveer Show’, he stated, “I think it is essential for voices to emerge from various regions, beyond just Bombay. We need contributions from not only metropolitan areas but also tier 2 and tier 3 cities. These voices are crucial, and they must be heard.”
He also pointed out, “In the past, this used to happen more frequently. Now, it seems to be more challenging to break into the industry. Individuals are contemplating whether to enter Bollywood, become influencers, direct short films, or pursue opportunities on OTT platforms. The landscape has diversified.”
Varun further emphasized that those in influential roles within Bollywood must adapt to the evolving times. If they are unable to do so, they should consider relinquishing some control to foster growth within the industry.
“I don’t intend to be disrespectful, but it appears that many leaders in Bollywood have reached a certain stage in their careers. They have been entrenched in traditional practices for years and may not recognize the need for change. We must evolve with the times or risk becoming irrelevant. Reinvention is critical for all of us,” he concluded.
