Mumbai, Aug 13 (NationPress) Actor Vikram Singh Chauhan portrays Captain Kartik Sharma in Amazon MX Player’s 'Sena – Guardians of Nation', directed by Abhinav Anand.
Interestingly, Vikram didn't originally audition for Kartik but for the character of Mrityunjay.
"I was then given the audition script for Kartik Sharma. After several reading sessions, I was confirmed for the role," he shared.
In preparing for the character, his goal was to emulate the true fitness levels of soldiers. “It wasn’t about bulking up but achieving the fitness soldiers possess—being agile, quick, and always ready for action. I had prior experience with action scenes, so I aimed at enhancing my agility instead of just gaining weight,” Vikram explained.
He also mentioned that his experience on 'Sena' brought him closer to his father.
“We seldom communicated directly, always through my mom—‘Did my son call?’ Yet, he is the one who worries the most if I fail to call him by day’s end. This journey has encouraged me to call him directly, converse more, and even embrace him without hesitation,” the 'Mardaani 2' star recounted.
Beyond the physical changes, Vikram found the mental preparation for his role to be even more demanding: “I began studying SSB exams, and with the resources from the direction team, I felt like I was preparing for them myself. It had been ages since I studied so intensely for my board exams! This process helped me grasp the mindset of aspirants. Wearing the uniform gave me the essence of my character—that’s the first aspect I seek in any role I take on. Once that connection was made, my posture, thoughts, and even the smallest gestures aligned with the soldier I was depicting.”
Referring to the Sena team as his “new family,” Vikram expressed that their camaraderie developed long before they hit the set—during the reading sessions.
