Chennai, Dec 4 (NationPress) Director Vipin Radhakrishnan, who helmed the film starring Geetha Kailasam titled 'Angammal', expresses that their aim was to create a cinematic experience that feels genuine and not merely staged.

Vipin Radhakrishnan states, “Our goal was to craft a narrative that resonates as lived experiences, deeply rooted in the soil, voices, and resilience of authentic individuals. Geetha Kailasam approached 'Angammal' with exceptional dedication. She immersed herself in the village, absorbed its rhythms, and embraced every nuance of its women. Her portrayal embodies the essence of this film, both tender and fiercely dignified.”

The director also acknowledges the contributions of other cast members for their outstanding performances.

“Saran Sakthi serves as a vital component of the narrative. Having appreciated his work in 'Vada Chennai', we recognized his capacity to convey the emotional depth required for the role, and he excelled with remarkable intensity. Special accolades go to Bharani, whose performance is nothing short of flawless. His character holds significant importance in this film,” he adds.

For those unfamiliar, 'Angammal', debuting on December 5, centers on a mother whose traditional garb, once honored in her village, becomes a source of embarrassment for her son as he nervously prepares for his in-laws’ arrival. What may initially seem trivial transforms into a profound exploration of identity, dignity, femininity, and the emotional dynamics within a family.

Vipin, who has woven this compelling narrative, is confident it will resonate with audiences, stating, “Our ensemble embraced each moment with authenticity, braving long nights and unpredictable village weather without a second thought.”

He notes that opting for sync-sound was a daring choice, as capturing live breaths demanded utmost discipline from both actors and crew.

“Our camera and sound teams approached this challenge with profound artistic sensitivity. The music, visuals, and every department collaborated with a united aim: to convey truth. Our producers wholeheartedly supported this vision, believing in a film that may seem simple yet profoundly addresses themes of tradition, identity, and pride. Without their backing, 'Angammal' would not have come to fruition as it has,” he explains.

The film is being presented by Stone Bench Films in partnership with Njoy Films & Firo Movie Station.

Written for the screen and directed by Vipin Radhakrishnan, this film is adapted from a story by Perumal Murugan, featuring cinematography by Anjoy Samuel and music & original score by Mohammed Maqbool Mansoor. It is produced by Kaarthekeyen S, Firoz Rahim, and Anjoy Samuel, with co-production by Shamsudeen Khalid and Anu Abraham.
