Mumbai, Sep 10 (NationPress) After its acclaimed premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Homebound is gearing up for its presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). An enthusiastic actor, Vishal Jethwa, shares his excitement about the film’s growing global recognition.
“It’s surreal to be in the limelight for Homebound. The response at Cannes was truly overwhelming, and I am immensely thankful for the appreciation we garnered there. Now heading to Toronto feels like a dream come true,” Vishal expressed.
He further remarked, “I’m savoring every moment of this international attention, and I genuinely hope the audience at TIFF receives the film with the same warmth.”
The actor describes this journey as both “humbling and inspiring,” eagerly anticipating more viewers to immerse themselves in the world of Homebound.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound also features actors Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor.
Produced by Dharma Productions, the film narrates the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India, aspiring to become police officers, believing this will earn them the respect they have long desired. However, as they approach their goal, mounting pressures and struggles threaten their friendship.
Vishal commenced his acting career in 2013 portraying Akbar in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. He later played Bali in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman in 2015.
The following year, he took on the role of the terrorist Chota Packet in Diya Aur Baati Hum and appeared as Nasir in Peshwa Bajirao.
His Hindi film debut came in 2019, portraying a villain in Mardaani 2, alongside Rani Mukerji. In 2022, he featured in the medical thriller series Human, sharing the screen with Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari.
Vishal recently acted alongside Revathi and Kajol in the 2023 film Salaam Venky, which also starred Rajeev Khandelwal, Rahul Bose, Prakash Raj, and Aahana Kumra.
In 2023, Jethwa appeared in Vidyut Jammwal’s IB71 and played Hassan Ali in Tiger 3. Most recently, he starred opposite Avneet Kaur in the murder mystery Party Till I Die.
