Mumbai, Dec 17 (NationPress) As ‘Homebound’ secures a spot among the top 15 nominees for the Best International Feature Film category at the forthcoming Oscars, actor Vishal Jethwa, who portrayed the lovable character Chandan Kumar, shared his joy. He expressed that the film's journey toward the prestigious Academy Awards is a reality he had only fantasized about.

In a heartfelt statement, Vishal remarked, “This moment feels unbelievably surreal and profoundly humbling. Witnessing Homebound being shortlisted and advancing toward the Oscars is something I could have only dreamt of.”

Homebound will compete in the category alongside films from various countries, including Argentina’s Belen, Brazil’s The Secret Agent, France’s It Was Just an Accident, Germany’s Sound of Falling, Iraq’s The President’s Cake, Japan’s Kokuho, Jordan’s All That’s Left of You, Norway’s Sentimental Value, Palestine’s Palestine 36, South Korea’s No Other Choice, Spain’s Sirat, Switzerland’s Late Shift, Taiwan’s Left-Handed Girl, and Tunisia’s The Voice of Hind Rajab.

The actor expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming love and support the film has garnered globally.

“I want to genuinely thank Karan Johar for his faith in this narrative and us as artists; his vision and support gave Homebound the wings it required,” he stated.

Reflecting on the film’s director, Vishal added: “The sensitivity, honesty, and clarity of Neeraj Ghaywan as a filmmaker pushed me to explore emotional depths I had never encountered before. Working under his guidance has been a transformative experience.”

“I also extend my thanks to Ishaan Khatter, whose dedication and passion enriched each scene; we gained so much knowledge from each other during this journey. This recognition is a tribute to the entire team that invested their hearts and souls into the film,” he concluded.

The final nominees in all categories will be revealed on January 22. The 98th Academy Awards are scheduled for March 15, 2026, with Conan O’Brien returning as the host.
