Mumbai, Oct 28 (NationPress) Actor Vishal Jethwa, whose recent film Homebound has been chosen as India’s official submission for the 2025 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category, expressed his eagerness to delve into the realms of romance, dance, and music on screen.

In an interview with IANS, Vishal shared, “I feel genuinely fortunate for the love that Homebound has garnered from both audiences and critics. Being part of such a film will always hold a special place in my heart. However, as an actor, I’m always eager to explore new genres and dimensions of performance.”

The actor made a striking entrance into Hindi cinema as a villain in the 2019 film Mardaani 2, featuring Rani Mukerji. The story revolves around police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy's quest to apprehend a 21-year-old rapist and murderer.

“Though I have primarily portrayed socially-driven dramas or intense roles, I have yet to venture into the world of romance, dance, and music on screen. Interestingly, I am quite similar in real life—full of energy, emotion, and rhythm,” he remarked.

Vishal is hopeful that filmmakers and production houses will explore this facet of his talent on screen.

“I dream of participating in a film where I can convey love, joy, and passion through songs, dance, and light-hearted sentiments—something that brings smiles and uplifts spirits,” he expressed.

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Dharma Productions, Homebound tells the story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India who aspire to become police officers, believing the role will grant them the respect they have long desired. Yet, as they draw closer to their ambition, external pressures and challenges threaten their friendship.

The film, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section, reportedly receiving a nine-minute standing ovation post-screening.

Vishal began his acting journey in 2013, landing the lead role of Akbar in Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. In 2015, he portrayed Bali in Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman. The following year, he took on a pivotal role as a terrorist in Diya Aur Baati Hum.
