Chennai, Aug 30 (NationPress) Director Vishal Venkat, who has helm the upcoming Tamil comedy-drama 'Bomb', featuring Arjun Das and Shivathmika Rajashekar in leading roles, has revealed that the film, which carries a strong social message, was born out of two significant inspirations.
During the audio and trailer launch of the comedy film, which tells the story of a person's flatulence believed to be linked to a deceased individual, Vishal Venkat shared, "There are two inspirations behind my film. The first one is my grandfather. He had a routine of waking up at 4:30 am to enjoy his coffee. We were used to hearing three distinct sounds: the sound of him sipping the steaming coffee, savoring it, and then swallowing it down. Additionally, there was a fourth sound - that of him farting."
The director recounted a poignant memory, stating, "In his final days, my family and I cared for him. One day, while assisting him to the restroom, he collapsed. We desperately tried to wake him, believing he had died. Just as I was about to fetch the doctor, he miraculously woke up, stood up, and walked to the restroom, claiming he was fine. The following day, I overheard him telling my uncle, 'I visited God for 15 minutes and came back.'"
Moving on to his second source of inspiration, Vishal Venkat mentioned, "The second inspiration stemmed from incidents I observed through videos, showcasing how children interacted regarding religion, family, or beliefs. Their behavior concerned me greatly, leading me to the conclusion that we needed a film addressing these issues. Thus, we created Bomb, a narrative exploring various beliefs."
The director assured that his film is crafted with sensitivity, stating, "Arjun Das portrays a character named Manimuthu, who believes his friend is still alive. Each character embodies a belief. This film delves into themes of belief, emotions, and camaraderie. Ultimately, it emphasizes that love is the only enduring force."
"The excess air within a person's body is expelled as a fart. Similarly, our society is filled with superfluous elements. My intention was to convey this metaphorically, encapsulated in Bomb," he concluded.
