New Delhi, July 19 (NationPress) Zain Durrani has expressed that pursuing a career as an actor in the Hindi film industry feels akin to being perpetually engaged in a competitive examination.
Reflecting on the significant rejections and hurdles he has encountered while establishing himself in Bollywood, Zain mentioned to IANS: “You don’t start off with an understanding of how to handle rejections in this field. You gain that experience by confronting them consistently. Being an actor is like you’re continuously preparing for competitive tests, and whether you secure a role or not, you’re immediately facing another evaluation.”
He continued, “You might be perfect for one role but completely overlooked for another. If you maintain the right mindset, you cultivate resilience. Nevertheless, it’s crucial that your resilience does not strip away your sensitivity and vulnerability.”
According to him, these traits are the “most significant assets for an actor,” and one must learn to “protect them.”
Did he ever contemplate quitting?
Zain remarked: “During the COVID-19 pandemic, I experienced a surge of emotions regarding my profession. Many thoughts crossed my mind. However, after the release of Bell Bottom, I found my motivation again.”
With the evolution of Bollywood, influenced by OTT platforms, innovative directors, and unconventional narratives, where does he envision his role in this transforming landscape?
“Our industry is progressing to accommodate more voices and talents. We will all discover our rightful place in the sun,” he stated.
The actor’s most recent project is 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan', directed by Santosh Singh. The film features Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey, and is a romantic comedy inspired by Ruskin Bond’s cherished short story, 'The Eyes Have It.'
Produced by Zee Studios and Mini Films, the project is spearheaded by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla.
