Mumbai, Feb 2 (NationPress) Actress Zoya Afroz has recounted an inspiring narrative of how years of unwavering diligence led to a significant milestone in her career, securing a pivotal role in filmmaker Neeraj Pandey’s crime thriller TV series, Taskaree.

Zoya took to Instagram to share a series of photographs from the show’s sets, which focuses on an Indian Customs Service team stationed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport as they tackle an international smuggling operation.

She revealed that while visiting her mother’s hometown in Assam after a 12-year hiatus, she received an unexpected call.

“Certain opportunities present themselves because you've positioned yourself to seize them. I was in my mom's hometown in Assam—after 12 years—3,000 km away, four hours from the nearest airport. I had planned for a long stay, but just two days into my trip, I got a call for an audition right away,” she captioned her post.

Zoya mentioned that when she learned it was for Neeraj Pandey’s Netflix series, everything changed. The cast also features Emraan Hashmi, Sharad Kelkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Nandish Sandhu, and Anurag Sinha.

Despite being nearly 3,000 kilometers away and several hours from the nearest airport, Zoya packed overnight and embarked on a 16-hour journey to reach the audition in time. Shortly after, she received approval, marking the start of what she described as “living her dream.”

“I packed overnight, traveled for 16 hours, auditioned, got approved—and suddenly, I was living my dream,” she shared.

Discussing her hectic schedule, Zoya explained that there was merely a three-day interval between her audition and starting work on set. With little time for acclimatization, she found herself preparing and filming simultaneously while managing a substantial seven-episode character arc.

“There was only a three-day span between my audition and arriving on set. I was preparing and shooting at the same time, assuming a powerful character that spanned seven episodes without any time to adjust. Yet, sometimes, you toil in silence for years—and when the moment comes, that preparation shines through,” she reflected.

Zoya remarked that this experience reinforced her conviction that years of silent dedication are never in vain, as they equip an artist to seize the moment when it arrives.

“I share this to emphasize—the years you invest in quiet work are never fruitless. You continuously hone your craft, and when your moment finally arrives, you are prepared. Until then, you persist, remain steadfast, and do not falter. What resonated with me was the team’s determination—they truly moved mountains to make this happen. I am immensely grateful.”

Zoya concluded with gratitude: “Thank you, @neerajpofficial—your faith means everything to me. Thank you @devendradeshpande31 @fridaystorytellers @raghavjairath for your unwavering resolve! You all are incredible.”
