Hyderabad, Nov 6 (NationPress) A tragic suspected drug overdose has resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man in Hyderabad, while two others, including his live-in partner, fell seriously ill, according to police reports.
The victim, Ahmed Ali, who lived in the Kalapather region of the old city, passed away while his friends attempted to transport him to a hospital during the early hours of Thursday.
Authorities revealed that Ali was residing in a rented apartment within a gated community in Shivrampally alongside his friend, Zohra, 28, from Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
On Wednesday, Ali, Zohra, and another friend, Syed Bin Salah, ingested drugs, including opium, at the apartment. Reports indicate that Ali began to vomit blood and subsequently collapsed. Despite efforts from his friends to rush him to a hospital, he tragically succumbed en route.
The police have moved his body to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, with a suspected drug overdose being the cause of death. Forensic samples have been sent for analysis to confirm the exact circumstances.
Both Zohra and Salah were also treated and are reported to be in stable condition.
A case has been filed at the Rajendranagar police station under the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
In a related incident, six individuals, including three consumers, were apprehended during a coordinated operation by the Rajendranagar police and Special Operations Teams (SOT) from Rajendranagar and Madhapur zones for their involvement in the supply and distribution of MDMA and ganja.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yogesh Goutam, reported that authorities seized 18 grams of MDMA, 130 grams of ganja, and five mobile devices from the suspects.
Three suppliers were arrested near Aramghar X Road in Rajendranagar and have been identified as Sangadi Santosh, 26, from Kakinada; Gandhi Sandeep, 23, from Bengaluru; and Kandepalli Shiva Kumar, 23, a lorry driver from Rajahmundry.
Following information provided by the suppliers, three consumers were also arrested and identified as Palaka Sai Babu, 25, an IT employee from Rajahmundry; Kotha Vishal Reddy, 28, a private employee from Khajaguda; and Plishetty Sameer, 24, a photographer from KPHB.
Authorities noted that the suppliers have a history of drug offenses, with Santosh previously charged under the NDPS Act in Andhra Pradesh. The primary supplier, who orchestrated the operation, remains at large.
According to police, the accused had connected with an unidentified drug source via Instagram, which facilitated deliveries through interstate peddlers. The group transported 17 grams of MDMA and 150 grams of ganja from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, concealing the drugs within bags.
Upon arriving at Aramghar X Road, they were intercepted by law enforcement. Following their confessions, three consumers were later arrested in the vicinity.
All six suspects have been remanded to judicial custody, while efforts continue to locate the absconding supplier.
