Indore, March 13 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh government announced on Friday that the multi-speciality Vedanta Hospital located in Indore has been suspended from the Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ Yojana due to “serious violations” of the established standards under this scheme.

This decision came after the Chief Executive Officer of Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ conducted a physical inspection of the hospital, which revealed that the operating theatres were in an extremely poor and unsanitary condition.

During the inspections, several irregularities were identified at Vedanta Hospital, which failed to meet the guidelines set by the central government.

“The facility also neglected to provide emergency health services to patients,” stated a government official.

Consequently, the Executive Officer of Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ has immediately suspended Vedanta Hospital from its empanelment due to these serious breaches of the scheme's standards.

“The state of the hospital’s operating theatre was found to be deeply concerning and unsanitary,” the official reiterated.

Additionally, despite being registered for Surgical Oncology, there was no Tumour Board available at the hospital.

“The State Health Agency has classified these irregularities as significant financial and procedural lapses,” the official remarked.

It was also observed that the hospital lacked promotional materials, had inadequate provisions for patient meals, and did not have sufficient staff available.

“These irregularities have been deemed serious by the State Health Agency, and further stringent actions will follow, including the potential for permanent de-empanelment from the scheme,” the official added.

Vedanta Hospital in Indore is a private multi-speciality facility that aims to provide affordable healthcare. It is well-known for its 24-hour emergency services and its association with the Ayushman Bharat (PM-JAY) scheme, offering free treatment for various critical surgeries.

The Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ scheme is part of the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) specifically within Madhya Pradesh, providing free health coverage up to Rs five lakh annually for eligible low-income families in the state.

This scheme also includes secondary and tertiary care in empanelled hospitals, focusing on families below the poverty line, beneficiaries of Sambal Yojana, and, in certain cases, construction workers.
