Tokyo, May 22 (NationPress) Members of the all-party delegation, headed by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, commenced their journey in Japan by presenting floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in Edogawa, Tokyo.

This delegation included notable figures such as Jha, BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi and Brij Lal, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Barittas, and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid. They arrived in Tokyo on Thursday morning, marking the initiation of India's significant diplomatic outreach dubbed 'Operation Sindoor.'

In a post on X, Jha shared, "We commenced our visit by paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi Ji at Edogawa, Tokyo. This statue, unveiled by EAM S. Jaishankar in July 2024, symbolizes peace and the enduring India–Japan friendship."

He further stated, "Honoring Bapu here in Japan reinforces our collective dedication to his enduring principles of non-violence and harmony."

This global initiative under Operation Sindoor aims to unveil Pakistan's involvement in promoting cross-border terrorism.

Upon their arrival, the leaders received a warm welcome from Indian Ambassador to Japan Sibi George.

Moreover, the delegation was briefed by Ambassador Sibi George, who presented the strategic framework for engagements with Japanese leadership and civil society.

Aparajita Sarangi posted on X, "We began with a briefing from the Indian Ambassador to Japan at the Indian Embassy. We also traveled to Edogawa in Tokyo to pay floral tributes before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi."

The visit primarily focuses on garnering support for India's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, especially following the tragic April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.

The Indian Embassy in Tokyo emphasized, "India's steadfast stance against cross-border terrorism, as demonstrated in Operation Sindoor, will be underscored in all engagements."

This groundbreaking global campaign is being orchestrated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). It involves seven high-level delegations, comprising 59 Members of Parliament, former ministers, diplomats, and senior political figures, visiting 33 countries from May 21 to June 5.

While Jha's team focuses on East and Southeast Asia, MP Shrikant Shinde leads another group to the UAE, Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Simultaneously, DMK leader Kanimozhi's delegation is visiting Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain.

The campaign's main goal is to present a united Indian front against terrorism and to internationally isolate Pakistan by showcasing its persistent support for terror networks.

The MPs will engage with foreign governments, legislators, media, civil society, the Indian diaspora, and international organizations, including the UN.

They will present evidence of Pakistan's support for terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), as well as its ongoing sheltering of globally designated terrorists.

This initiative signifies one of India's most robust and cohesive foreign outreach efforts in recent years, aimed at fostering international consensus against state-sponsored terrorism.
