Dehradun, May 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, welcomed a distinguished 10-member delegation from Nepal’s Sudurpashchim Province, headed by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, at his official residence on Saturday.
The primary aim of the meeting was to fortify bilateral relations and enhance collaboration in border regions.
Key topics of discussion included development initiatives in border districts through mutual coordination, the promotion of cultural and religious ties, tourism enhancement, and the improvement of disaster management protocols.
CM Dhami highlighted the profound social and cultural connections between Uttarakhand and Nepal, emphasizing their shared historical and civilizational legacy.
He pledged comprehensive support from the Uttarakhand government for joint efforts in trade, healthcare, education, and infrastructure advancement along the border.
In a post on X, Dhami expressed, “The Honourable Chief Minister of Far Western Province of Nepal, Kamal Bahadur Shah, engaged with respected ministers and officials at the government residence. During this occasion, various contemporary issues affecting India and Nepal were deliberated. There exists a profound similarity between the peoples of India and Nepal from cultural, religious, and social perspectives. Our traditions, customs, languages, cuisine, and lifestyles continually enhance mutual trust and connection. The bond between our two nations transcends mere political or geographical boundaries; it is fundamentally emotional and cultural.”
The Nepalese delegation comprised Minister Veer Bahadur Thapa; Members Ghanshyam Chaudhary, Naresh Kumar Shahi, Jhapat Bahadur Saud, and Sher Bahadur Bhandari; Chief Secretary Dr. Kamal Prasad Pokharel Sharma; Secretary Surat Kumar Bam; and Political Advisor Dr. Jitendra Upadhyay.
Representing the Uttarakhand government were Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu and Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman.
Earlier, members of the Nepalese delegation met with Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh in New Delhi to discuss strategies for strengthening ties.
The delegation is officially visiting India from April 29 to May 5.
