Last October, during their meeting in New Delhi, EAM Jaishankar and Kombos evaluated the India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan 2025-2029. Jaishankar highlighted that they discussed the global geopolitical landscape, developments in their respective regions, and collaboration within multilateral platforms.
On X, EAM Jaishankar noted, "It was a pleasure to welcome FM Constantinos Kombos of Cyprus in New Delhi today. We reviewed the India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan 2025-2029, which was endorsed by leaders during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June 2025. Our conversations also addressed the global geopolitical climate, regional developments, and our joint efforts in multilateral forums. With Cyprus set to assume the European Union Presidency in 2026, we are optimistic about the strengthening of India-EU relations."
This Action Plan serves as a guide for implementing the Joint Declaration that emerged from Prime Minister Modi's visit to Cyprus, outlining short, medium, and long-term objectives across key areas of cooperation, including but not limited to defense, trade, and the technology sectors.
Expressing gratitude for India’s warm hospitality, Kombos stated that he felt "delighted and honored" to engage with Dr. S Jaishankar during his inaugural official visit to India.
"My trip to India shortly following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Cyprus signifies the robust nature of Cyprus-India relations," he remarked on X.
The visiting Foreign Minister emphasized that discussions centered on advancing the Cyprus-India strategic partnership, including the execution of the Joint Action Plan agreed upon by both nations.
"I also reiterated our gratitude for India’s longstanding principled support regarding the Cyprus Issue and its commitment to upholding international law," Kombos stated.
