Washington, March 10 (NationPress) Delaware is actively pursuing enhanced economic connections with India after Governor Matt Meyer undertook a significant trade mission to New Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. This initiative has paved the way for new investment opportunities, collaborations in clean energy, and research partnerships.

The delegation included prominent figures from Delaware’s government, academic institutions, and the business sector. Officials noted that the mission was centered on drawing companies to the state, broadening the horizons for Delaware businesses internationally, and fortifying research collaborations with Indian academic institutions.

“We are bringing new opportunities back to Delaware,” Meyer remarked. “We successfully attracted companies, bolstered Delaware employers, fortified research collaborations, and significantly enhanced the First State’s reputation in one of the world’s largest markets.”

One major achievement from the mission was the intention of REnP Green Energy to investigate the establishment of its inaugural American facility in Delaware. Executives from the company are anticipated to visit the state in April for site selection, with plans for a manufacturing operation set to launch in 2027.

Additionally, International Critical-Care Air Transfer Team (ICATT) Air Rescue, a global air ambulance service, is looking to incorporate in Delaware and establish its first U.S. operations base in the state.

The University of Delaware also progressed discussions with leading Indian Institutes of Technology and other organizations to enhance cooperation in research, student exchange programs, and clean energy innovations.

In parallel, the Delaware Prosperity Partnership has formed a new alliance with the Confederation of Indian Industry to reinforce commercial ties between Delaware and Indian firms.

“This economic mission demonstrated that Delaware is competitive on the global stage,” commented Secretary of State Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez.

“We established valuable connections with business and government leaders, created new opportunities for Delaware companies, and opened new avenues for investment, innovation, and collaboration that will provide long-term advantages for our state,” she added.

During the trip, Delaware-based Versogen announced a collaboration with Indian renewable energy firm InSolare Energy to expedite the global rollout of green hydrogen technologies.

Founded at the University of Delaware and located on the STAR Campus, Versogen has developed advanced materials for water electrolysis, facilitating hydrogen production without carbon emissions.

This partnership combines Versogen’s Anionic Exchange Membrane electrolyzer stack design with InSolare’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities to support extensive green hydrogen production.

“Versogen’s journey epitomizes the best of the First State: pioneering research at the University of Delaware has cultivated a leading polymer membrane company situated on the STAR Campus—transitioning into a meaningful partnership that promotes clean energy globally,” Meyer expressed.

“By merging Versogen’s innovative technology with InSolare’s manufacturing prowess and project execution, Delaware chemistry is genuinely delivering cost-effective, large-scale green hydrogen and solidifying a Delaware–India relationship for the foreseeable future,” stated the governor.

In New Delhi, Meyer conferred with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to explore collaborative research opportunities, engagement with start-ups, and innovation partnerships linking Indian enterprises with Delaware’s life sciences and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The governor also hosted a “Doing Business in Delaware” seminar at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai, where manufacturers, fintech leaders, and business executives were educated about the state’s benefits as a prime destination for investment and expansion.

During the visit, the Delaware Prosperity Partnership formalized a memorandum of understanding with the Confederation of Indian Industry to foster innovation, encourage start-up collaborations, and enhance commercial relationships between the two regions.

The trip also set the stage for an upcoming visit from a delegation from NASSCOM, India’s technology industry association, which is planning to come to Delaware in May during a scheduled visit to New York.

“As an ER doctor, meeting with ICATT was personally significant for me: they are physicians creating a company that focuses on life-saving emergency care,” remarked First Lady Lauren Meyer.

“This journey was about forging new connections and attracting innovative businesses. Now ICATT aims to incorporate in Delaware and is considering plans to establish its first U.S. operations here, thereby enhancing the lives of Delawareans,” she added.

Officials mentioned that follow-up efforts would continue in the coming weeks to build upon the relationships forged during the visit.

“The work stemming from the trade mission will persist in the upcoming weeks as Delaware officials strive to nurture relations with companies, universities, and governmental partners,” Meyer stated. “This is how a small state competes. We engage, cultivate relationships, and bring opportunities back to every community.”

India has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and an increasingly vital partner for the United States in trade, technology, and clean energy.

The economic relationship between the two nations has rapidly evolved in recent years, characterized by expanding collaboration in manufacturing, digital innovation, and research.
