Dutch Officials React with Dismay to The Hague Building Blast

The Hague, Dec 7 (NationPress) Dutch officials voiced their dismay on Saturday following a significant explosion at an apartment building in The Hague, which resulted in injuries to at least four individuals.

"Dismayed by the shocking visuals of a devastated apartment building in The Hague," Prime Minister Dick Schoof shared on social platform X, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima also took to X, stating, "We extend our sympathies to all those directly impacted or who are anxious about their loved ones."

The apartment structure in The Hague partially crumbled on Saturday morning following a powerful explosion, leaving at least four individuals injured. The injured, which included a child, were hurried to the hospital for medical care.

Emergency responders, including a specialized Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) unit, are actively engaged in rescue and search efforts, as officials indicated that the number of casualties could potentially increase to around 20.

The occurrence transpired on Tarwekamp Street in the northeastern Mariahoeve district of The Hague. Visuals from the site reveal that the front of several apartments has been obliterated.

The building accommodates shops on the ground level and two residential floors above. The reason behind the explosion remains undetermined.

Law enforcement reported that a vehicle was observed fleeing the scene shortly after the explosion. Authorities are urging witnesses who may have seen the car to step forward.
