Death Toll Increases to Six as Recovery Efforts Continue Following Explosion in The Hague

The Hague, Dec 9 (NationPress) A sixth body has been discovered amidst the wreckage of the apartment building in The Hague that experienced a partial collapse following a powerful explosion, as reported by Dutch emergency services on Monday.

The explosion and the resulting fire at the apartment complex have resulted in the loss of six lives thus far. Emergency responders are actively searching for more victims, with a small part of the disaster area still yet to be examined.

Authorities have identified four of the six deceased individuals, including a child. The process of identification has proven to be difficult due to the intense fire that persisted in the debris for several hours after the explosion, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Five individuals were rescued from the wreckage, with four requiring hospitalization.

Investigations into the cause of the explosion are currently underway, with local authorities announcing the initiation of a criminal investigation.

The explosion took place in the Mariahoeve district, leading to a partial collapse of the apartment building located on Tarwekamp Street.
