Ecuadorian Leader Embraces National Strategy to Combat Corruption

Quito, December 10 (NationPress) Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa reiterated his unwavering commitment to combating corruption upon receiving the 2024-2028 national strategy aimed at enhancing public integrity and addressing corruption.
The strategy, unveiled at Quito's Simon Bolivar Andean University, was meticulously crafted over the past year with contributions from civil society, academic institutions, and technical assistance from Germany.
"This strategy is not just a hollow promise but a true commitment to confront corruption head-on," Noboa stated, emphasizing that corruption has weakened institutions, depleted resources, and diminished public trust, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
In his remarks, Ecuador’s Comptroller General Mauricio Torres underscored that combating corruption must be a top priority for the state, describing it as a multifaceted economic, social, and political dilemma.
According to the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index from Transparency International, Ecuador ranks 115th out of 180 countries.
