New Delhi, March 4 (NationPress) President Alexander Stubb of Finland has landed in New Delhi on Wednesday for a three-day State Visit to India, following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Upon arrival, he was greeted at the airport by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh.
The Finnish leader received a formal Guard of Honour upon his entrance.
In a post on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated, "A warm welcome to India! President Alexander Stubb of the Republic of Finland has arrived in New Delhi for a State Visit. He was met with a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour, and was welcomed by Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh at the airport."
President Stubb's stay in India extends until March 7, accompanied by a distinguished delegation that features Ministers, senior officials, and key business figures.
During his visit, he will participate in the 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, taking place in New Delhi from March 5 to 7, where he will be the Chief Guest and deliver the keynote address.
This is President Stubb's inaugural visit to India since he took office.
The MEA revealed that Prime Minister Modi and President Stubb will engage in extensive discussions aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation across various sectors. They are also anticipated to share insights on regional and global matters, including collaboration in multilateral forums. A lunch in honor of the visiting president will be hosted by the Prime Minister.
During his time in India, President Stubb will also meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to meet him to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations.
After his engagements in the capital, President Stubb will head to Mumbai, where he will meet with Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In Mumbai, he plans to engage with Indian business leaders and participate in an India-Finland business event. He is also scheduled to address students at the University of Mumbai.
The MEA highlighted that India and Finland share a warm and multifaceted relationship founded on common democratic values. Finland is recognized as a vital partner for India within the European Union and the Nordic region.
The Ministry added, "President Stubb's visit, following the recent trip by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo to India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, signifies both nations' commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across a broad spectrum of sectors and enhancing people-to-people connections."
