New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) Vice President C P Radhakrishnan met with the visiting President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, in New Delhi on Thursday. He expressed appreciation for Stubb's role as the Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue 2026. The discussions centered around the expanding collaboration between India and Finland, with a focus on enhancing trade and economic relations.

The leaders deliberated on the changing global dynamics, highlighting India's significant contribution in advocating for the Global South and the pressing need for reforms in global institutions like the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). They also explored opportunities for collaboration in artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

The Vice President's Secretariat shared on X, "Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri C P Radhakrishnan, welcomed the President of the Republic of Finland, H.E. Dr. Alexander Stubb, in New Delhi today. The Vice President expressed gratitude for President Stubb's participation as the Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue 2026. The leaders exchanged views on the evolving global order, India’s constructive role in voicing the concerns of the Global South, and the need for reforms in international institutions, including the UNSC."

"The two leaders reviewed the deepening partnership between India and Finland and discussed plans to bolster trade and economic relations, aiming to double bilateral trade by 2030. They acknowledged the robust democratic traditions shared by both nations and welcomed the increasing parliamentary exchanges. Furthermore, they discussed cooperation in artificial intelligence, the potential of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, and enhancing collaboration in mobility, migration, and the educational opportunities for Indian students in Finland," the statement added.

Earlier, President Stubb and Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened at Hyderabad House in Delhi, discussing collaboration in sectors such as technology, infrastructure, defense, space, AI, semiconductors, and education. They acknowledged the promising trade potential between the two countries following the signing of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

"India is thrilled to host President Stubb of Finland. We are equally pleased that he is the Chief Guest at this year’s Raisina Dialogue. Our discussions today were extensive. We explored the substantial trade and commerce potential, particularly after the India-EU FTA. Other topics included cooperation in technology, infrastructure, defense, space, AI, semiconductors, and education," PM Modi posted on X.

"We see immense opportunities in working together to ensure reliable technologies and resilient supply chains globally. The Migration and Mobility Agreement will further enhance our partnership. We are also strengthening our collaboration in Arctic and polar research," he added.
