New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with Finnish President Alexander Stubb at Hyderabad House, New Delhi, focusing on enhancing the bilateral relationship.
As per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the leaders are set to explore a variety of topics aimed at boosting cooperation in numerous sectors. They are also anticipated to share insights on regional and global matters of shared interest, including partnerships within multilateral platforms. Following their discussions, the Prime Minister will host a luncheon in honor of President Stubb.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with President Stubb to discuss bilateral relations just before the latter's meeting with Prime Minister Modi.
“I’m looking forward to his address this evening at the Raisina Dialogue,” he remarked.
Before their meeting, the Finnish President paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
President Stubb arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi.
His stay in India will last until March 7, accompanied by a high-profile delegation consisting of ministers, senior officials, and notable business figures.
During the visit, he will also participate in the 11th Raisina Dialogue, running from March 5 to 7, where he will act as the Chief Guest and deliver the keynote speech.
This visit marks President Stubb's inaugural trip to India since taking office.
While in India, he is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan.
After his engagements in the capital, President Stubb will head to Mumbai, where he will meet with Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In Mumbai, he plans to engage with Indian business leaders and take part in a business event focused on India-Finland relations. He will also speak to students at the University of Mumbai.
The MEA highlighted that India and Finland share a robust, friendly relationship grounded in common democratic values. Finland is recognized as a vital partner for India within the European Union and the Nordic region.
“President Stubb's visit, following the recent attendance of Finnish Prime Minister H.E. Petteri Orpo at the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, signifies both nations' mutual dedication to reinforcing bilateral ties across a range of sectors and enhancing connections between peoples,” the Ministry stated.
