Hamas Endorses Egyptian Initiative for Post-Conflict Gaza Management

Gaza, Dec 5 (NationPress) Hamas declared on Thursday that it has agreed to the Egyptian initiative aimed at creating a shared committee with Fatah for overseeing the governance of the post-conflict Gaza Strip.

In an official announcement, Hamas indicated that its delegation finished discussions in Cairo, where they engaged in comprehensive talks with Fatah regarding the establishment of a joint committee to manage the post-conflict Gaza Strip. This initiative is intended to facilitate the implementation of the nationally endorsed comprehensive agreements aimed at achieving national unity and fully resolving the division and its various consequences.

The delegation conveyed Hamas's endorsement of the proposal put forth by their Egyptian counterparts concerning the creation of a social support committee through inclusive national mechanisms,” the statement continued, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Historically administered by Fatah, the Gaza Strip has been under the control of Hamas since 2007. Israel has consistently opposed any potential future governance by Hamas in Gaza.
