Harris Urges Supporters to Protect Their Empowerment

New York, Nov 28 (NationPress) In her initial message after conceding, a subdued and melancholic US Vice President Kamala Harris urged her supporters to protect their empowerment. In a video message as the nation anticipates her next move, she stated, 'I just want to remind you, don’t ever allow anyone to take your power away from you.'

'You possess the same power that you had prior to November 5, and you maintain the same purpose and ability to engage and inspire,' she emphasized, adding, 'So never permit anyone or any situation to strip your power from you.'

After her defeat, Harris took a vacation in Hawaii, shunning public appearances post her November 6 speech, where she accepted her loss and returned to her base in San Francisco on Monday.

The Democratic Party released a 29-second video message on Tuesday via X and TikTok, without specifying when or where it was filmed.

The video appeared casual, showing her in a brown jacket, seated against a partial view of the US flag in the background.

She looked fatigued and at times close to tears as she communicated, using hand gestures for emphasis.

Despite leaving office, Harris will not be financially disadvantaged.

Although she does not receive a pension for her vice presidency, her role as President of the Senate and her previous tenure in the Senate qualifies her for a pension.

Additionally, she will earn pensions from her previous positions in California.

Moreover, she can expect substantial income from speaking engagements, which can range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars per event, along with royalties from her books.

For instance, former Vice President Mike Pence secured a $1.4 million advance for his memoir, and in just 16 months starting January 2022, he earned $3.4 million from 31 speeches, as revealed in filings obtained by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

Before her vice presidency, Harris amassed $450,000 in royalties from her memoir, 'The Truths We Hold.'

According to Forbes, the combined net worth of her and her spouse, Doug Emhoff, is approximately $8 million.

A significant uncertainty looms over her future as her term concludes on January 21.

During her concession speech on November 6, she stated, 'I will continue to fight for a future where Americans can chase their dreams, ambitions, and aspirations.'

Her career history comprises entirely of government roles, beginning as a deputy district attorney in a California county and advancing to become the state's elected attorney general.

She was then elected to the Senate before being chosen by President Joe Biden as his Vice President, eventually leading to her unsuccessful presidential campaign.

According to Politico, her family and several senior aides joined her on her Hawaiian getaway, during which she contemplated her future steps.

She reportedly spent considerable time conversing with her supporters, conveying the message, 'I am staying in the fight.'

Two clear options emerge for her if she wishes to remain in politics.

She could aim for the governorship of California in the 2026 election to succeed Gavin Newsom, whose second term concludes in 2027, as he is barred from seeking a third term under state law.

While she has occupied a higher position, the governor of the most populous and wealthiest state holds significantly more power in practical terms compared to a Vice President.

Newsom himself may run for President in 2028.

Another possibility for Harris would be to make another presidential bid, but she faces two major challenges: she withdrew from the party primaries before they began in earnest in 2020, and this year, she secured the nomination without opposition only to lose to Donald Trump.

Her performance and strategies are currently under review by her party members.
