Kolkata, April 12 (NationPress) West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, expressed on Sunday that a significant number of individuals could find themselves homeless if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secures power in the upcoming elections this month.
“In the near future, there will be no homes, no addresses, and no families. The BJP will strip away everything,” she asserted during a campaign rally held in Khandaghosh, located in East Burdwan district, amidst the critical two-phase Assembly elections scheduled for April 23 and April 29.
During her address, she also took aim at the Prime Minister, indirectly criticizing him for his recent promise at a campaign event that, if the BJP were to win in West Bengal, state government employees would receive salaries aligned with the 7th Pay Commission.
“They are deceivers. They are pledging adherence to the 7th Pay Commission. He should have verified the facts first and shown respect for his position. We have already incorporated the 7th Pay Commission in our state budget announced in February this year. West Bengal stands as the sole state where government employees are provided with a pension, a benefit not available in other states,” Banerjee stated.
Without directly mentioning the Prime Minister, she also remarked on his ambiguous pledge that popular food items and sweets from West Bengal would be globally exported should the BJP take charge.
“He is unaware that we are already marketing these products on local, national, and international levels,” she argued.
In her speech, she accused the BJP and former Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir of conspiring to fragment minority votes, although she refrained from naming anyone explicitly.
“You have witnessed their entry into a Rs 1,000 crore deal aimed at dividing minority voters. Now they claim that the related video clip is fabricated and generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). However, the creator of the video insists it is authentic. How much longer will they attempt to cover up the truth? They may have abundant funds, but why are they not lowering the prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas?” the Chief Minister questioned.
