Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Beirut, March 15 (NationPress) Hezbollah announced on Sunday that it executed a rocket barrage aimed at an Israeli military industrial facility located north of Kiryat.
The group indicated that the strike targeted the military industrial site affiliated with Israel's state-owned defense technology firm Rafael Advanced Defense Systems at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time.
Hezbollah characterized the assault as being conducted "in defense of Lebanon and its populace," according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
As of now, there has been no immediate response from Israeli officials regarding this claim.
Earlier that day, the Israel Defense Forces reported conducting a series of strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure throughout Lebanon.
Hezbollah asserted that multiple drone and missile strikes were aimed at Israeli positions on Sunday, as tensions in the region escalate following a US-Israeli operation against Iran.
In various statements, the organization claimed that their actions were a reaction to "Israeli aggression" against numerous Lebanese cities and towns, including the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The group also mentioned firing a rocket barrage toward the Israeli settlement of Nahariya, as well as targeting an air defense system in the Ma'alot-Tarshiha region in northern Israel.
Furthermore, Hezbollah reported shelling Israeli troop concentrations at the Jabiyah point across from the Lebanese border town of Meiss El Jabal, and at the Hadbat al-Ajl site situated north of the Kfar Yuval settlement.
A significant rocket attack was also directed at Israeli soldiers assembled in Khallet al-Mahafir, located on the fringes of the border town of Adaisseh in southern Lebanon, and at the Avivim military base, the group stated, while also confirming another strike on the Rafael military industries complex in northern Israel.
Additionally, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting Israeli military vehicles near Adaisseh and the Palmachim Airbase, situated south of Tel Aviv, roughly 140 km from the Lebanese border.
Hostilities have escalated since February 28, when joint operations by Israel and the US targeted Iran, resulting in approximately 1,200 fatalities, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Iran has executed drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations housing US military resources.
The conflict has also spilled into Lebanon, with the Israeli military intensifying operations that have resulted in over 800 deaths and more than 2,000 injuries since March 2 amidst cross-border exchanges with Hezbollah.
