According to a post from the Indian High Commission in Cyprus, "High Commissioner Mr. Manish met with Mr. Costas Fytiris, Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus. The two sides engaged in comprehensive discussions. The High Commissioner updated the Minister on recent advancements in bilateral relations and the upcoming visit of H.E. President Nikos Christodoulides to India in May 2026."
In this context, they also deliberated on various issues pertinent to the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, including institutional cooperation between the two nations, extradition and criminal issues, prisoner exchanges, and several consular matters concerning Indian nationals.
On April 4, Manish met with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, discussing preparations for the President's visit to India in May 2026, which was extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Indian Embassy in Cyprus confirmed that both sides explored the key deliverables outlined in the India–Cyprus Joint Action Plan, aiming to enhance cooperation across diverse sectors such as trade, investment, innovation, and connectivity, building on the momentum from Prime Minister Modi's visit to Cyprus in June 2025.
“They also reviewed progress in other essential sectors like defence and security, renewable energy, digital innovation, fintech, and maritime cooperation, while stressing the importance of fostering people-to-people connections through academic and cultural initiatives,” stated the Indian Embassy on their post on X.
Last October, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar and his Cypriot counterpart Constantinos Kombos evaluated the India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan 2025-2029 during their discussions in New Delhi.
“I was pleased to welcome FM Constantinos Kombos of Cyprus today in New Delhi. We reviewed the India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan 2025-2029, which was agreed upon by leaders during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June 2025. Our talks also addressed the global geopolitical landscape, developments in our respective regions, and our collaborations in multilateral forums. As Cyprus prepares to take over the European Union presidency in 2026, we are optimistic about the strengthening of India-EU relations,” said EAM Jaishankar in a post on X after the meeting.
During his significant visit to Cyprus last June, PM Modi extended an invitation to Christodoulides to visit India soon. The two leaders discussed a comprehensive range of bilateral relations, including collaborations in sectors such as defence, security, trade, technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and climate justice.
“President Nikos Christodoulides and I engaged in extensive discussions, covering the full spectrum of India-Cyprus relations. It is widely acknowledged that the bilateral ties between our countries are deeply rooted. Today, we deliberated on cooperation in fields like defence, security, trade, technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and climate justice,” PM Modi remarked on X following their meeting.
