Amman (Jordan), Dec 15 (NationPress) Applauding the resolute position of Jordan and King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein on tackling terrorism, extremism, and radicalization, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Monday that Amman and New Delhi hold a shared and unequivocal stance against terrorism.

"We have a unified and distinct approach toward terrorism. Under your guidance, Jordan has conveyed a powerful and strategic message to humanity opposing terrorism, extremism, and radicalization. In our private discussions, we explored opportunities to bolster our cooperation on this front," PM Modi articulated during the delegation-level meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

PM Modi commended King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein for his initiatives promoting moderation, reminiscing about their initial meeting a decade ago.

"I remember our first encounter also occurred on the sidelines of the UN in 2015, at an event centered on countering violent extremism. Even at that time, your comments were motivating regarding this issue. Your commitment to fostering moderation is crucial not only for regional stability but also for global harmony. Together, we will advance in this direction concretely and enhance all other aspects of our bilateral cooperation," he stated.

This marks Prime Minister Modi's first comprehensive bilateral trip to Jordan, having previously passed through Jordan in February 2018 en route to the State of Palestine.

"I express my sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality shown to me and my team. You have proposed very optimistic ideas for elevating India-Jordan relations. I genuinely thank you for your camaraderie and unwavering dedication to India," PM Modi expressed during his meeting with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

"This year, we are commemorating the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic ties. This significant milestone will motivate us to progress with renewed vigor for many years ahead. I am optimistic that today's discussions will inject new momentum and depth into our relations. We will collaborate in sectors like trade, fertilizers, digital technology, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jordan's Amman on Monday afternoon, commencing his three-nation tour, which will also cover visits to Ethiopia and the Sultanate of Oman—all countries with which India has both ancient civilizational connections and extensive contemporary bilateral relations.

In a notable gesture, Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan greeted Prime Minister Modi at the airport upon his arrival for a two-day visit at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

In his statements, the King of Jordan discussed further enhancing Jordan-India relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

"I believe this visit symbolizes decades of friendship, mutual respect, and fruitful cooperation between our two nations. Our countries share a robust partnership and a common aspiration to foster prosperity for our citizens. Over the years, our collaboration has broadened across various sectors. Your visit today offers a vital chance to pave new avenues for economic cooperation in industries such as ICT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, energy, and many other promising fields that will benefit our people," he noted.
