Kabul/New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) In a show of unwavering commitment to the Afghan populace, India has recently sent 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Kabul.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed its dedication to enhancing Afghanistan’s public health, stating, "In a continued effort to support Afghanistan’s healthcare, India has delivered 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Kabul."
On November 28, India also supplied 73 tonnes of essential medicines, vaccines, and supplements to meet the urgent healthcare demands of Afghanistan.
“To bolster healthcare initiatives in Afghanistan, India has transported 73 tonnes of life-saving medicines and essential supplements to Kabul. Our commitment to the Afghan people remains steadfast,” Jaiswal shared on X.
Earlier, on November 20, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaged with Afghanistan's Industry and Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi in New Delhi, where they deliberated on enhancing trade, connectivity, and social ties between the two nations. EAM Jaishankar reaffirmed India's dedication to the progress and welfare of the Afghan populace.
"It was a pleasure to meet Industry and Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi in New Delhi. We explored ways to reinforce our trade, connectivity, and social relations. I once again emphasized India’s support for the development and welfare of the Afghan people," EAM Jaishankar stated on X.
On November 3, India also provided food supplies to families impacted by the earthquake that affected the Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces.
In a release, MEA reiterated, "In a renewed commitment to the Afghan populace, India has sent food items to families affected by the earthquake."
This aid followed a devastating earthquake of magnitude 6.3 that tragically claimed over 20 lives and injured many more in northern Afghanistan.
EAM Jaishankar further expressed condolences to his Afghan counterpart, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, regarding the earthquake's fatalities. He assured that Indian relief supplies are being distributed to those affected and that additional resources will follow.
Post-discussions, EAM Jaishankar tweeted, "I contacted FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi of Afghanistan this afternoon to express my condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake that impacted Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces. Relief materials from India for the earthquake-affected communities are being distributed today, with more medical supplies to arrive shortly."
"We discussed the advancements in our bilateral relationship since his recent visit. It was encouraging to see the strengthening of social connections between India and Afghanistan, and I valued the exchange of insights regarding the regional situation," he added.
