Jakarta, May 29 (NationPress) The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, spearheaded by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, engaged in significant dialogues with esteemed think tanks, academic institutions, and Resident Ambassadors from approximately 20 allied nations in Jakarta. Additionally, they conferred with leaders from the National Mandate Party (PAN), a progressive Muslim party in Indonesia.
This engagement signifies a vital extension of India's diplomatic efforts to secure global backing against cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan.
The delegation's discussions with the resident ambassadors detailed insights regarding Operation Sindoor and transparently addressed Pakistan's involvement in the tragic Pahalgam terror incident on April 22. They underscored India’s calculated, non-escalatory response following the attack.
The delegation articulated that terrorism and dialogue cannot coexist and emphasized the necessity for diplomatic backing in bringing terrorists to justice. They referenced the UNSC statement from April 25, which highlighted the imperative for unified diplomatic action against terrorism and its supporters.
Subsequently, the delegation met with PAN leaders, including Eddy Soeparno, Vice Chairman of PAN and Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People's Assembly, alongside Viva Yoga Mauladi, Vice Chairman of the Party and Deputy Minister for Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia. They shared perspectives on India's unwavering stance against terrorism.
“I am honored to lead our All-Party Parliamentary Delegation in meaningful dialogues with the senior leadership of Indonesia’s National Mandate Party (Partai Amanat Nasional – PAN) — including Eddy Soeparno and Viva Yoga Mauladi, alongside other members of parliament,” Jha shared on X.
“We articulated India’s resolute stance on zero tolerance towards terrorism, recounting the Pahalgam attack where civilians were specifically targeted based on religion, and India’s decisive reaction through Operation Sindoor. Both parties unequivocally condemned terrorism in all its forms and stressed the significance of dialogue, democracy, and regional stability,” the post continued.
Earlier, the delegation conducted fruitful discussions with researchers and academics from various Indonesian think tanks and universities, including the Indonesian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), The Habibie Center, Indo-Pacific Strategic Intelligence (ISI), Center for Indonesia Policy Studies (CIPS), and the University of Indonesia.
“We conveyed a robust national message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism. There was a consensus on understanding India’s position and the need to collaboratively combat misleading narratives promoted by vested interests. In response to inquiries regarding the endgame on this issue, the delegation firmly stated that the complete cessation of terror activities by Pakistan, dismantling of terror infrastructure within Pakistan, and the withdrawal from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) constitutes the ultimate objective,” stated the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.
The delegation, led by Jha, also comprises BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Hemang Joshi, and Pradan Baruah, along with Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Barittas, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, and former Indian Ambassador to France, Mohan Kumar.
After successfully concluding their engagements in Singapore, South Korea, and Japan, the delegation is now in Indonesia to emphasize the significance of Operation Sindoor and India’s ongoing struggle against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism with Indonesian leadership.
