Upon arrival in Rome, the parliamentarians were welcomed by India's Ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao.
The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, under the leadership of Ravi Shankar Prasad, MP, is set for extensive discussions in Rome. The team aims to communicate India's steadfast and unified stance against cross-border terrorism, particularly in the context of Operation Sindoor, as noted in a post by the Indian Embassy on X.
This nine-member delegation reflects a broad political spectrum, including Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Ghulam Ali Khatana (BJP), Amar Singh (Congress), Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), M. Thambidurai (AIADMK), former Union Minister M.J. Akbar, and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran.
In Italy, the delegation plans to engage with numerous high-profile leaders, academic institutions, think tanks, and community representatives to update them on Operation Sindoor and relay India's 'new normal' message against terrorism.
During their visit to France, the delegation also reinforced India’s ongoing battle against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
On Tuesday, they interacted with senior journalists from prominent French and international media, focusing on India's unwavering commitment to combating terrorism. The delegates called for increased global cooperation on this critical issue.
The delegation met with Members of Parliament at the French National Assembly, led by Thierry Tesson, President of the France-India Friendship Group, and later at the French Senate, they engaged with Senators from the same group, led by Vice President Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio, along with members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
Throughout these discussions, the MPs highlighted India’s profound dedication to eradicating terrorism in all its forms.
The French parliamentarians expressed strong support for India’s position and reiterated the shared values that form the foundation of the France-India strategic partnership.
On Tuesday, Ravi Shankar Prasad took to social media to share insights from their Paris interactions, where they discussed the presence of designated terrorists finding refuge in Pakistan and India’s response following the April 22 Pahlagam terror attack.
“Today, alongside my delegation colleagues, I engaged with the French media in Paris, providing them details about India's actions against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. We also had an insightful dialogue with a think tank and interacted with many Indians in Paris, who expressed their sorrow over the tragic loss of innocent lives in barbaric attacks and recognized India’s decisive response. On the issue of terrorism, the world must unite,” Prasad stated on X.
Prasad highlighted the existence of several UN-designated terrorists in Pakistan, many of whom faced fatal outcomes during India's precision strikes as a last resort. He emphasized that the delegation delivered India's message in “very unmistakable terms.”
“This time, we retaliated decisively with lethal force, targeting terrorist camps and their air force installations. Consequently, Pakistan has sought peace,” Prasad concluded.
