Tehran, Aug 4 (NationPress) The Supreme National Security Council of Iran (SNSC) has sanctioned the creation of a new defence council led by President Masoud Pezeshkian, as reported by the SNSC-affiliated Nour News.
The newly formed council will oversee the comprehensive review of the nation’s defence strategies and work towards enhancing the capabilities of the Iranian armed forces.
This council includes leaders from Iran's three governmental branches: the executive, judiciary, and legislative, alongside commanders of the armed forces and representatives from various ministries, according to a report from Xinhua news agency.
On Wednesday, a post on social media platform X by Nour News indicated that, following necessary groundwork and structural reforms, there is a greater probability for significant changes within certain high-level security institutions in the country.
In related news, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Tehran's dedication to uranium enrichment ahead of expected negotiations with European nations. He emphasized that Iran would persist with its peaceful nuclear agenda, including uranium enrichment, underscoring the country’s inalienable rights under international law.
During a meeting with the family of Major General Mohammad Baqeri in Tehran, Araghchi stated, "We will continue to steadfastly defend the rights of the Iranian people in peaceful nuclear energy, particularly enrichment," as reported by Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
He further asserted, "Our enrichment will continue; we will not relinquish this right."
