Israeli Airstrike Targets Hezbollah Rocket Launcher in Southern Lebanon

Jerusalem, Nov 30 (NationPress) An Israeli airstrike targeted a portable medium-range rocket launcher located in southern Lebanon, as confirmed by a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The IDF indicated that the operation was executed after terrorist activities and the movement of a Hezbollah rocket launcher were detected in the region, according to Xinhua news agency.

This assault occurred despite the implementation of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, which began early Wednesday, signaling a potential end to nearly 14 months of conflict.

The IDF's announcement highlighted that its forces are stationed in southern Lebanon to neutralize any threats that could jeopardize Israel's safety and breach the ceasefire.

Earlier on Friday, the IDF advised residents of 63 villages in southern Lebanon to refrain from returning home until further notice.

Avichay Adraee, an IDF spokesperson, shared a map on the social media platform X, depicting the restricted area encompassing these villages, cautioning that anyone entering this zone would face significant risks.

The restricted area measures approximately 120 km in length and 3 km in width, stretching from Naqoura in the west to Shebaa in the east.

On Tuesday night, Israel's security cabinet ratified a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon, which took effect early Wednesday. The terms of the ceasefire stipulate that the Lebanese army will assume control over the southern border regions within the next 60 days, as Israel gradually withdraws its forces, allowing civilians to return to their homes.
